Luigi's Mansion

Overview:

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon released in 2013 was the successor to the 2001 GameCube's Luigi's Mansion. Nintendo initially envisioned it with a 3D "doll house" aesthetic, but the technology at the time wasn't advanced enough. Behind closed doors and ahead of the 3DS launch, we were committed to developing Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon on early development hardware, in anticipation of the eventual release of the 3DS.

Luigi's Mansion 3 started shortly after on Wii U early development hardware. It would later be released in 2019 on the Switch.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon

The Spider Boss was the first boss we created. I animated, prototyped and designed this boss during early production alongside another designer. This helped establish the mechanics, level design, look, and feel we wanted for the remaining boss enemies.

Luigi's Mansion 3

We started development on Luigi's Mansion 3 on the Wii U. I created an updated strafe movement system during early development to take advantage of the dual analog controls. Eventually it was released on the Nintendo Switch, but the core controls remained intact.
